SANFORD, N.C. — There is still no word from the state Medical Examiner's Office on what caused a Lee Senior High School student to collapse and die Friday.
Eric Mitchell, 15, was a member of the school's junior varsity football team.
Monday night, the varsity team took to the field and dedicated its game, which was postponed Friday due to Mitchell's death, in his memory.
Travis Mitchell, a member of the varsity team, wore his brother's #45 jersey for the game; the high school plans to retire the jersey.
A memorial service is planned at the school on Wednesday.
