Durham Police Look For Suspect In Weekend Triple Shooting

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police have a suspect in a weekend triple shooting.

Officers say Keith Whitley, 24, of 1003 Merrick St., shot two women and a man Sunday morning. The incident happened around 2 a.m. outside Jaguars Nightclub and Lounge on Willard Street.

Carmen Cross, 20, and Justin Sharp, 22, suffered serious injuries and underwent surgery at Duke University Hospital. Sharice Thorpe, 22, was treated for her injuries at Duke University Hospital and released.

Police say there were about 300 people in the parking lot when Whitley opened fire. Investigators said the shooting apparently stemmed from a past dispute.

Whitley is described as black, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 160 pounds. He frequents the Fayetteville Street area. Whitley has been charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police say there were about 300 people in the parking lot when Whitley opened fire.
