Wakefield Elementary To Reopen Friday After Sinkhole

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A water line break created a road hazard at a Wake County elementary school Wednesday afternoon.

The broken water line opened up the ground at Wakefield Elementary. The sinkhole is about 20-feet-by-20-feet and about 10-feet deep.

No cars or buses have had a run-in with the sinkhole.

School was closed on Thursday, but officials say classes are set to resume on Friday.

Wakefield Middle and Senior High Schools are not affected.
