Hillsborough Officials To Consider Stage 6 Water Restrictions

Posted Updated

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — The town of Hillsborough is facing a water crisis.

The Town Council plans to meet Tuesday to discuss Stage 6 water restrictions.

Should that happen, restaurants and business would be required to use disposable plates, cups and utensils.

People will be told to do things such as use hand sanitizer instead of washing their hands.

Hotels and motels would be required to offer guests staying multiple nights the option to not have their bed sheets changed daily.

Bottled water would be recommended to use for drinking and cooking, and customers would be asked not to use garbage disposals or automatic dishwashers.

The town recommends installation of water-saving devices such as shower heads, faucet aerators/restrictors and toilet tank inserts.

Violators face a $200 fine. That is an increase of $50 from the current restrictions.
