Highway Patrol Taking Seatbelt Campaign To Schools

The state Highway Patrol is making sure drivers are following the rules of the road in school zones. State troopers are using the Click It or Ticket campaign to get motorists to buckle up.

The local patrols came out of an Insurance Institute Highway Safety survey about seatbelt laws.

"A recent survey showed that 46 percent of the kids being dropped off at middle and high schools were restrained. With that in mind, we wanted to show more special emphasis on seat belts," said Trooper William Moore, of the state Highway Patrol.

State troopers are also monitoring morning and afternoon school bus traffic as part of operation "Stop For The School Bus" to enforce traffic laws around school buses.
