Officials Discuss Traffic Plans For Triangle Town Center

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Triangle Town Center

is set to coincide with the opening of the newest section of Interstate 540. Mall officials are discussing traffic plans with the state Department of Transportation.

The opening of Triangle Town Center next week in Raleigh will bring a lot of shoppers. Most of the shoppers will be traveling on the new section of I-540 from Falls of Neuse Road to Capital Boulevard.

Officials know the opening of the mall will bring a staggering amount of traffic to the area.

"This situation is certainly unique with all of the growth and large volume of growth, with the big mall like this one coming in, I think we have a good handle on it right now," DOT engineer Joey Hopkins.

"You will see increased delays, I think, that's obvious. Any time you have traffic growth, there will be some delays," said Jimmie Beckom of the Raleigh Department of Transportation.

The traffic problems may not end with Triangle Town Center. Two other major shopping centers are in the works for Capital Boulevard.
