Boyfriend Of Harnett Teen Wanted For Questioning

Posted Updated

ERWIN, N.C. — Erwin police want to talk to the boyfriend of a Harnett County teen accused of killing her newborn son.

Investigators said Sophia Whitley, 19, gave birth last weekend at her parent's home, stuffed the baby in a plastic bag and put him in the trunk of her car.

Police said they did not know how long the 7-pound infant was in the trunk of the car. The medical examiner's office said the baby was carried full-term and he was born alive.

Whitley faces several charges, including murder.

Investigators cannot talk with Whitley's boyfriend until his lawyer gives permission.

Whitley's family has been cleared in the case.
