Drought Brings Changes At Recreational Lakes

Posted Updated

CHATHAM COUNTY, N.C. — Visitors to Jordan Lake will notice some big changes, thanks to the drought.

The lake is currently down about 5 feet.

Visitors will find smaller swimming areas and several closed boat ramps. Officials say several canoeing areas could also be dangerous.

State officials met Thursday with the towns that draw water from Jordan Lake and warned them to start conserving water.
