Raleigh, Clayton To Hold Fireworks Display On Fourth Of July

RALEIGH, N.C. — Officials in Raleigh say the city will go aheadwith its fireworks show on the Fourth of July.

Spokeswoman Jayne Kirkpatrick said while the rains of the lasttwo nights provided only a slight respite from the dry conditions,firefighters will be standing by at the State Fairgrounds.

Kirkpatrick says the fireworks will be launched from a safesite.

Meanwhile, the city is discouraging residents from setting offtheir own fireworks because of the continuing dry weather.

The show is scheduled for shortly after sunset.

The town of Clayton said it will hold its annual fireworks displayfrom 9:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. at Muncipal Park on Stallings Street.
