DURHAM, N.C. — Durham County tax rates are about to go up for the second time in as many years.
The new rate will be 75.3 cents per $100 of assessed property -- an increase of more than 3 percent.
The increase is part of the $497 million budget approved by Durham County Commissioners.
Under the budget, most county workers are eligible for a 5 percent raise. Durham Public Schools will receive more than $72.5 million, which is slightly more than last year.
