Fayetteville State University May Seek Name Change

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville State University may get a new name.

State Rep. Bill Hurley has filed a bill to fund a study to change the name to the University of North Carolina at Fayetteville.

Some people object to the change because of the school's tradition of being an historically black university.

The results of the study will be available for the 2003 session of the General Assembly.
