Wilson In Running For All-America City Honor

WILSON, N.C. — The

city of Wilson

could soon win a national honor.

The first group of representatives from the city leaves Tuesday night to make a pitch to be named an

"All-America City"

.

City leaders will highlight the efforts to improve the east part of town.

So far, nearly 80 new homes have been built in older neighborhoods through an agreement with builders.

The new African-American history museum will also be featured.

The competition among the 10 finalists takes place this weekend in Kansas City, Missouri.

Wilson is the only North Carolina city still in the running.
