Developers Say Triangle Town Center Will Offer New Experiences For Shoppers

Developers say the new, 1.3 million-square-foot mall will be on the cutting-edge of shopping experiences. The mall will feature a man-made creek that will run through it as well as have an 18-foot waterfall inside.

"They'll be very surprised when they come here because it doesn't look like any place they've seen before," developer Bill Fullington said.

The mall will feature five different areas, and each area will have a different feel. For example, Market Street will be an area of glass-enclosed specialty shops. Creekside Cafes will look like a cave carved into the side of a mountain.

"We try to have something that appeals to a lot of people," Fullington said.

The mall will have more than 130 retailers and restaurants including Sears, Belk and Dilliard. The mall will also have Saks Fifth Avenue, but that will not be open until the fall of 2004.

The mall was originally set to open in February but construction delays along Interstate 540 pushed back the date of the mall's opening.

The new mall is set to open Aug. 14.
