Authorities Looking For Wife Of Slain Air Force Captain

Posted Updated

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — An alleged love triangle ended one soldier's life and put another in jail for life. Investigators are now looking for the woman in the middle, who has also been charged with her husband's murder.

In December 2000, Air Force Capt. Marty Theer was shot and killed outside his wife's office building on Raeford Road. Staff Sgt. John Diamond is serving a life sentence for the murder.

During the trial, Diamond admitted he had an affair with Theer's wife, Michelle. Now she has been indicted by a grand jury for first-degree murder and conspiracy charges.

The problem is investigators do not know where Michelle is. All they know is that she has family in Colorodo and that she traveled a lot between New Orleans and Florida. Gerald Beaver, Michelle's attorney, hopes to hear from her soon.

"My anticipation is she would do the responsible thing and come here and surrender," he said. "She's always made herself available in the past with the court martial hearing and I anticipate her coming her and turning herself in."

Beaver said he expects Theer's trial to be long and complicated, and he said he is not sure if he will continue on as her lawyer.
