Johnston Superintendent Freezes School's Accounts

Posted Updated

CLAYTON, N.C. — The superintendent of

Johnston County Schools

has frozen all financial accounts at

Riverwood Middle School

.

A group of parents have a list of more than two dozen complaints about Billy Mims, principal at Riverwood Middle School. Among the big complaints, the parents allege that they have problems with the way Mims treats kids and how he will not talk to parents.

They are also upset about the way school officials handled a student fund-raiser. Members of the Parent Teacher Student Association claim the school misled them about where the money was going. Parents claim the money was never accounted for and was deposited in the school's account.

The school superintendent has frozen all of the school's accounts and have allowed auditors to examine the account.

Mims has asked to be reassigned to another school, and the superintendent said Mims will be sent to Clayton High School as an assistant principal starting next year.

A school spokesperson told WRAL that there is no evidence right now to fire the principal.
