Wake County Schools Considering Whether Smaller Is Better

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake County schools are about to study whether smaller is better.

A community group spent the last eight months studying "small school" models. A "small school" is where the total population has fewer children, not necessarily a school with smaller class sizes.

The group asked the school board to find out whether smaller schools allow for higher achievement.

National research shows students work and behavior is better when all teacher know them and the students know each other well.
