KENLY, N.C. — People in the Johnston County town of Kenly fear a consolidation plan will put their emergencies on hold.
To save money, Johnston County commissioners are proposing that the towns of Kenly and Micro merge rescue squads. That would mean as many as 14,000 people would have to share emergency services.
Dozens of opponents to the merger packed a meeting at the Kenly Town Hall Thursday night.
The proposal will go before the EMS advisory committee next Tuesday.
