RALEIGH, N.C. — It took less than 90 minutes for many of Raleigh's red wolves to find new homes.
About 50 life-size, fiberglass wolves were auctioned Friday night before a crowd of 300 people at the North Carolina Museum of History.
The auction raised $155,000, which will be split among 30 local charities. The average selling price was around $3,200 per wolf.
More than 100 colorful wolves created by North Carolina artists were placed around the city in parks, shopping centers, small businesses and downtown locations as part of Raleigh's Red Wolf Ramble project.
