Fayetteville police say they were called to investigate a single-car accident at the corner of Ramsey and North Streets.
When police arrived on the scene, they found 65-year-old Orva Robinson inside his car. Robinson had been shot in the head and had apparently driven himself to North Street when he died.
"Based on what investigators detected at the crime scene itself, the way it appears the crime may have occurred, leads us to believe that this victim was the intended victim of the crime," Lt. Katherine Bryant of the Fayetteville Police Department said.
Police do not know how long Robinson had driven with the bullet wound. His car came to a stop in the front yard of an abandoned house.
Robinson owned a cleaning business and lived in an apartments with his fiance, just about a mile away from where he was found. People who lived closeby said he was a great neighbor.
"It was a shock to me. It's getting to me because he doesn't seem like the kind of person to go out like that," neighbor Echo Mitchell said.
