State Fair Organizers To Honor Leftover Ride Tickets In 2002

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — If you still have ride tickets from the 2001 North Carolina State Fair, hold on to them.

WRAL viewers contacted Five On Your Side to ask how leftover tickets will be handled for the 2002 State Fair since a new carnival company is taking over.

In January, State Agriculture Commissioner Meg Scott Phipps and the State Board of Agriculture agreed on a new vendor for the state fair.

Phipps picked Amusements of America to operate the midway, instead of James E. Strates Shows, which had been running the midway for 50 years.

In years past, Strates Shows honored ride tickets from year to year.

Five On Your Side contacted state fair organizers. After meeting on Wednesday, they decided to allow the old ride ticket books to be exchanged for new tickets beginning in September.

The 2002 N.C. State Fair takes place October 18-27.
