Former Angier Police Chief Speaks Out About His Dismissal

Posted Updated

ANGIER, N.C. — The former police chief of Angier is speaking out about his abrupt dismissal.

Mike Aponte was relieved of his duties a little more than two weeks ago. Some Angier residents claim the firing was a personal vendetta by Town Manager Tom Taylor.

"I feel like my dismissal was wrongful. There was nothing there to show any wrongdoing on my part," Aponte said.

Aponte is the current president of the State Fraternal Order of Police, a former detective with the Wake County Sheriff's Department and a highly-decorated veteran.
