Durham Author Indicted In Wife's Death Updates Web Site Column From Jail

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham author Michael Peterson, who was indicted last week for killing his wife, is updating his Web site column from jail.

The editor of the Web site said Peterson does not have access to a computer or the Internet, but he can make a 10-minute collect call from time to time. Peterson's first column, which will be called "Jail Journals," is about spending Christmas Eve in jail.

In one of his lines, Peterson wrote, "'Twas the Night before Christmas, but all was not still, or quiet, or well."

Peterson's wife, Kathleen, died three weeks ago. He called 911 Dec. 9, saying she had fallen down the stairs in their Forest Hills home. The medical examiner said her death was caused by a blow to the back of the head.
