Fayetteville Substance Tests Negative For Anthrax

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — According to results from the State Lab, a substance found in a bathroom at the StudioPlus Hotel on Sycramore Dairy Road was not anthrax.

Tests done on site Friday only revealed there was a bacteria involved. Governor Mike Easley says that indicated the substance found could have been anything from sodium to detergent.

The uncertain results led authorities to evacuate the hotel and give all 42 guests and employees anthrax-fighting antibiotics.
