State closes 2010 fiscal year with surplus
The state's General Fund ended the 2010 fiscal year with a $236.9 million balance, officials said Thursday.
Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — The state's General Fund ended the 2010 fiscal year with a $236.9 million balance, officials said Thursday.
The Office of the State Controller said the balance at the end of the 2009 fiscal year was $92 million.
Most of the difference came from increased sales tax collections and decreases in spending across the board.
