RALEIGH, N.C. — A federal judge denined all motions to dismiss charges Wednesday by the defense team for a former aide to then-Gov. Mike Easley.

Attorneys for Ruffin Poole, who was a legal counselor to Easley during his term as governor, argued that 51 felony counts against him should be dismissed because they are mostly premature or overreaching.

The judge rejected those arguments but allowed a motion to stop witnesses from talking to or receiving information regarding other witness testimony.
