Rep. Ellmers says she'll run again in 2012
Rep. Renee Ellmers said Tuesday that she "absolutely" plans to seek re-election in 2012 for North Carolina's 2nd congressional district.
Posted — Updated"(I'd) be very happy to continue to represent," she said in an interview with WRAL News ahead of the president's State of the Union address, which is expected to focus on the nation's economic recovery.
Ellmers said she didn't expect President Barack Obama to present a vision for the country that she and Republicans could get behind.
"We've passed on 27 bills to the Senate (that) are job creators. We continuously pass legislation that he and (Senate Majority Leader) Harry Reid block," she said. "We want to turn this economy around, and we have the plan moving forward. It really is the president who's blocked us on all this."
Ellmers, a nurse from Dunn, beat long-time Congressman Bob Etheridge in 2010.
