Volunteers gather trash on Haw's banks

Teams of volunteers combed 19 sites in the Haw River watershed Saturday for debris, collecting more than 90 bags of trash and 25 tires.

Teams of volunteers combed 19 sites in the Haw River watershed Saturday for debris, collecting more than 90 bags of trash and 25 tires. Germane Jones, spokeswoman for The Haw River Assembly, said about 220 people participated in Saturday's event. 

The annual Haw River Clean-Up-A-Thon continues next weekend.
