Raleigh man earns Boy Scouts' highest honor

Raleigh businessman Temple Sloan will be awarded the Boy Scouts' highest honor, the Silver Buffalo, May 28 in Dallas.

DALLAS — Raleigh businessman Temple Sloan will be awarded the Boy Scouts' highest honor, the Silver Buffalo, May 28 in Dallas.

Sloan will be recognized for his more than 40 years of volunteering with the Scouts.

Since 1967, he has served the Occoneechee Council in a variety of roles, and, at the national level, he currently chairs the Supply Support Committee, where he lends his business expertise to the BSA's retail operations.

Other recipients of the award include Bill Gates, Walt Disney and 13 U.S. presidents.
