UNC Hospitals names new COO

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The president of UNC Hospitals announced the promotion Thursday of Dr. Brian P. Goldstein from chief of staff to executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Effective July 1, Goldstein will oversee UNC Hospitals’ operations, including an annual operating budget of over $1 billion and a staff of more than 7,000. He replaces Todd Peterson, who is retiring June 30 after 20 years in the post.
