WILSON, N.C. — About 500 Wilson seniors were given special recognition Friday and Saturday at the Jenkins Bail Bonding Company at 105 E. Green St.

During the hours of noon and 2 p.m., the seniors were given gift bags that included a boneless country-cut ham, a bushel collards, free haircut coupons and free beauty salon coupons.

"I have a special love for elderly people," Bobby Jenkins, owner of Jenkins Bail Bonding Company, said in a statement "They are not treasured enough and it bothers me with the elders of our society having to decide on buying food or medicine, the basic needs. We are just reaching out to some of our valued members of this community to let them know they are not forgotten."

Volunteers from the community assisted with the event and Christmas music was provided by "Men After God's Own Heart.”
