New Deputy Director of Prisons named

Ricky Anderson was named the deputy director of the North Carolina Division of Prisons Wednesday.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Ricky Anderson was named the deputy director of the North Carolina Division of Prisons Wednesday.

Anderson is a 30-year corrections veteran who has served as superintendent at Pasquotank Correctional Institution in Elizabeth City since August 2007. He previously was superintendent at Foothills Correctional Institution in Morganton.

He began his career as a correctional officer at Wayne Correctional Center in 1979, becoming a program assistant and program supervisor in Greene County in 1982 and 1983.

Anderson became assistant superintendent for custody and operations at Marion Correctional Institution in 1994 before being named administrator at Foothills.

Anderson attended East Carolina University and is a graduate of the Department of Correction Leadership Development Program. He was named Warden of the Year in 2008.
