WILMINGTON, N.C. — More people visited the Battleship North Carolina in July than during the same month last year, said Captain Terry Bragg.

Bragg, executive director of the battleship, said, “It’s the first time we have crossed the 40,000 paid visitors per month hallmark since 2002.”

Visitation is up for the year as well, Bragg said, surmising that more North Carolinians are visiting sites closer to home.

Battleship North Carolina is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the Cape Fear River across from downtown Wilmington.
