Raleigh teacher gets national award
Kris Thomasson was named the 2009 Warren E. Shull National Middle Level Adviser of the Year by the National Association of Student Councils (NASC).

A Raleigh teacher took home a national award Monday for her work with the student council.
Kris Thomasson was named the 2009 Warren E. Shull National Middle Level Adviser of the Year by the National Association of Student Councils (NASC).
Thomasson is a science teacher and student council adviser at Martin GT Magnet Middle School. She is also the girls track coach and was the school’s 2007-08 Teacher of the Year.
"She is jovial, a good listener, and gives appropriate advice concerning issues facing students today,” 8th-grader Ashlyn Lancaster said.
The Shull Awards recognize high school and middle level student council advisers of exemplary character, leadership and commitment to young people and their development as student leaders.
