100 students earn internships with the state

Gov. Bev Perdue announced Wednesday the 100 North Carolina college, graduate and law students who will fill 10-week summer internships positions with state agencies.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Gov. Bev Perdue announced Wednesday the 100 North Carolina college, graduate and law students who will fill 10-week summer internships positions with state agencies. The internships begin on May 26 and continue through July 31.

“There is no better way to learn a job than by doing it," she said.

The interns are:

Alamance County
Daniel Shutt of Elon, a senior political science and religious studies major at Elon University, has accepted the Legislative internship with the N.C. House of Representatives in Raleigh.

Meredith Cook of Graham, a junior journalism major at UNC Chapel Hill, has accepted the Governmental Affairs internship with the Department of Labor’s Administration Division in Raleigh.

Kathryn Bowers of Mebane, a junior business administration major at N.C. State University, has accepted the Program Records Retention and Disposition Schedule Review internship with the Secretary of State’s Corporations Division in Raleigh.

Alexander County
Arturo Gonzalez of Taylorsville, a sophomore criminal justice and history major at UNC Charlotte, has accepted the Correctional Case Manager internship with the Department of Correction’s Alexander Correctional Institution in Taylorsville.
