RALEIGH, N.C. — Organizers expected about 6,000 people to celebrate Turkish culture at one of the state's premier cultural festivals Sunday.
The North Carolina Turkish Festival runs until 9 p.m. in the Exposition Center at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh.

The four-year-old festival showcases "one of the world’s most ancient and colorful civilizations," according to the event Web site.

There will be folk dances, Ebru water marbling, calligraphy displays, children's entertainment and a one-man circus from the Fritzy Brothers. Festival-goers can also dress like sultans, sample Turkish cuisine and browse through a Turkish bazaar.

More than 100 volunteers with the Divan Cultural Center put on the annual event.
