FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office on Monday launched a crime alert program to notify the public of ongoing criminal activity in local neighborhoods.

"We believe the concept of alerting the public to crime patterns or trends will allow law enforcement to solve crimes quickly and ensure a safer community," Sheriff Earl "Moose" Butler said. “Local citizens are the greatest crime-fighting tool we have to date. Utilizing them in our day-to-day operation will help us generate leads and tips that will bring criminals to justice.”

People who want to inform deputies about any crime in Cumberland County can call 910-484-8477 to leave a message. They can leave a call-back number if they want a deputy to get in touch with them, or they can remain anonymous.
