Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — Bicyclists endured a 16-and-a-half hour stationary bike ride on Saturday in Raleigh to raise money for ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease.
The 7th annual ALS Indoor Ride-a-thon was held across the country on Saturday. All proceed went to The Blazeman Foundation to raise awareness and advance the search for a cure for the disease.
Participants rode the amount of hours it took Jon “Blazeman” Blais, a tri-athlete with ALS, to complete the 2005 Ironman Championship in Kona, Hawaii. Blais died in 2007.
Raleigh bicyclists hoped to raise about $3,000 to help fight the disease.
