RALEIGH, N.C. — The Jewish Community Center in north Raleigh tried Sunday to set the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest human Hanukkah menorah.
Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is an eight day Jewish holiday celebration. It commemorates the rededication of the Jewish Second Temple in Jerusalem in 164 B.C. after its desecration by the Syrian Greeks.
Events began at sundown Sunday.
It was not known yet if the center made the record books for its human Hanukkah menorah.
