CARY, N.C. — Cary Police started Operation Hello Neighbor on Tuesday.

Officers will patrol area neighborhoods to remind residents about the risks of open garage doors, vehicles that are unlocked or those with valuables in clear view.

Garage burglaries and car thefts are Cary's most popular crimes, police said. They are also very preventable.

Operation Hello Neighbor patrols end Jan. 31.
