Chris Bradley, a fire equipment operator, is the Chapel Hill firefighter of the year. Bradley's volunteer work and mentoring of others were cited among the reasons for the honor.

Bradley developed an exhibit at the Chapel Hill Museum on the history of the department and created a fire safety puppet show for children.

Bradley, a member of the department since 1987, will be recognized in a ceremony Dec. 11.

Capt. Tommy Gregory, who organized firefighters to install sprinklers in over 60 Habitat for Humanity homes, was the runner-up.
