RALEIGH, N.C. — Some Raleigh students ran this weekend to raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving.

The annual 5-K Road Race was put on Sunday by Wakefield High School students.

All proceeds from the event go towards educating students about the hazards of drinking and driving and drug use.

Wakefield High School started the event after four students died in a drunk driving crash two years ago.

Police say the driver was legally drunk when the car plunged off the U.S. Highway 64 Bypass going 100 miles an hour.
