DURHAM, N.C. — The Bull Durham Blues Festival will have a new home when the music begins.

Construction at the old Durham Athletic Park means the festival is moved to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, where visitors will be able to walk on a field protected by a new floor surface. The city and Durham Bulls invested $655,600 for a temporary floor to be laid on the grass.

The surface is re-usable and will allow the city to hold more big events at the two stadiums, city officials said. The World Beer Festival in October and Bimbé Cultural Arts Festival next spring will also utilize the flooring.

The Blues Festival begins Thursday night at the Hayti Heritage Center. Concerts continue through the weekend at the DBAP.
