Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — Father's Day was extra special for dozens of Triangle dads who got to hold their new babies for the first time.
Brian Walker, of Coats, became a dad for the first time. His daughter was due last Monday, but she held out to arrive in the world at 1:37 p.m. Sunday at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
"The first I held her, and she looks into your eyes, you'll cry. I mean, she's beautiful," he gushed.
Walker said his daughter, named Ashley Lynn, is a miracle baby because he and his wife tried to have children for a long time.
Fourteen babies were born at Rex Hospital and eight at WakeMed on Father's Day.
