NC earns match for $15M schools grant
The money will help North Carolina's early college programs, which give high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credit, tuition-free, as a way to get a solid head start on college or strong preparation for a career.
Posted — UpdatedNorth Carolina high schools are getting $15 million in federal grant money thanks to matching funds put up by private companies, foundations and individuals.
The North Carolina New Schools Project needed to get commitments of $1.5 million to trigger the $15 million from the government.
Among those that gave was the A.J. Fletcher Foundation, a part of WRAL parent company Capitol Broadcasting.
