North Carolina high schools are getting $15 million in federal grant money thanks to matching funds put up by private companies, foundations and individuals.

The North Carolina New Schools Project needed to get commitments of $1.5 million to trigger the $15 million from the government.

Among those that gave was the A.J. Fletcher Foundation, a part of WRAL parent company Capitol Broadcasting.
