Wake Forest-Rolesville High reopens after renovation

The school was closed for the past year, while workers performed improvements, including a new parking deck and the first four-story school building in Wake County.

Cecile Rbeihat, a teacher at Wake Forest Rolesville High for 19 years, approved of the changes.

“I have not had anything brand new since I’ve been teaching. So, now I have lots and lots of new things, like new desks. I have two new file cabinets,” she said.

Full renovations at the school won’t be complete until next summer, school officials said.

The Wake Forest-Rolesville project is one of many planned in Wake County, but a tight budget is making it tough to get them all done.

“It just means that we need to be cautious. That we need to spend out money wisely,” said Chris Malone, a member of the Wake County Board of Education.

It’s unclear when a new bond will be discussed and how much the bond would be.

Four new schools are opening in Wake County this year - Mills Park Middle School and Alston Ridge Elementary in Cary, Holly Grove Middle in Holly Springs and Heritage High in Wake Forest.

The school board recently approved funding to design two elementary schools and one middle school on previously owned sites.
