Welcome, Demetri! First baby born at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center

Demetri Devon Gurley was the first baby of 2021 born at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Labor and Delivery.

Demetri Devon Gurley, the son of Devon Gurley and Dorothy E. Bennett of Fayetteville, was the first baby of 2021 born at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Labor and Delivery.

Demetri was born at 12:12 a.m., weighing 8 pounds and 1 ounce. He's 20 inches long. His grandparents, David and Nancy Bennett of Cape Coral, Florida and Joseph and Pamela Purnell of Lumberton, NC are joyous of his arrival! Welcome, Demetri!

Proud parents Jenna and Jarrett Fletcher of Wake Forest welcomed August Ray, who weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces.

Plenty of 'Hope' in the Duke healthcare system

Duke University Hospital had two New Year's babies, and each of them have the word 'Hope' in their names.

Hezekiah Hope was born at Duke University Hospital at 1:41 a.m.

Hezekiah Hope was born at Duke University Hospital at 1:41 a.m. He weighs 6 pounds and 12 ounces at birth.

His mother Brittany Black and his father Isaiah Hope had a very exciting New Year's Eve, as mom prepared to 'push' at midnight.

Hezekiah arrived a little early, just in time for 2021, at only 37 weeks. Mom says his birth is a blessing and that she never thought she would be having a baby on New Year’s day.

Everly Hope Jones was born at Duke Regional Hospital at 3:29 a.m. She's 7lbs 8oz and 20 inches long.

Cynthia Jones, her mother, says, “Having her on New Year’s Day gives my husband and I the assurance we needed to know that 2021 is going to be a great year and that we are very blessed.”
