Triangle restaurant news (July 5, 2013)

RALEIGH, N.C. — Some businesses are getting closer to opening! 

Corbett's Burgers and Soda Bar is getting closer to opening in Cary! According to their Facebook page, they should be opening in the next week or so, barring any setbacks! Good luck and we can't wait to try out those burgers! 

Crank Arm Brewing, which hopes to open soon in downtown Raleigh, officially obtained its permit to brew beer this week! Congrats!

Escazu, one of our favorite spots for chocolate, says it is staying put in the Mordecai Neighborhood for the near future. They released a statement this week denying rumors that they were moving despite outgrowing their current location. They said a move to a bigger location is certain at some point in the future.

No word on how the businesses at Seaboard Station will be affected in the wake of the announcement last week that Peace University has purchased the shopping and dining destination near downtown Raleigh. 

This isn't restaurant related, but we wanted to make sure you knew about the new Apricot Lane boutique opening at The Streets at Southpoint mall in Durham Saturday, July 13. It will be their third Triangle location. To celebrate the opening, they will have a prize wheel in the afternoon and a fashion show around 7 p.m. All day, they are donating 15 percent of sales to Transforming Hope, a Durham-based nonprofit that helps human trafficking victims. Community members are also asked to bring personal goods and home products like toilet paper, shampoo, soap, cleaning supplies and toiletries to help stock the Transforming Hope safe house in the Triangle. Just bring the unopened items to Apricot Lane at Southpoint on opening day.

Klausie's Pizza is moving ahead with plans for a restaurant. They are selling their current truck, but plan to get an even bigger truck after they get the restaurant open. The best of both worlds! We'll keep you posted on their progress.

One more piece of food truck news, Triangle Raw Foods is nearing the end of their Indiegogo campaign. They have until Sunday night to reach their goal of $25,000 to open a cafe and restaurant. They announced this week that the restaurant will be named Cafe L.O.V.E.: Live Organic Vegan Eats. 

Worth It Cafe in Durham announced its closure this week via Facebook. "We love and appreciate all of our amazing and loyal customers, who have all become wonderful friends and great supporters in our quest to provide fresh, local and homemade food throughout the Triangle," owners wrote. 

The Broad Street Cafe in Durham has also closed its doors. They are also looking to sell the restaurant. (Thanks to Heather on Twitter for this tip!)
