New Hill man charged with kidnapping, raping juvenile
A New Hill man has been charged with abducting and having sex with a juvenile from Virginia, Chatham County authorities said Monday.

David Alan Scott III, 25, of 197 Wilson Court, was charged with first-degree kidnapping, abduction of a child, indecent liberties with a child, statutory rape of a person 12-15 years of age and statutory sexual offense by an adult. He was being held in the Chatham County jail under a $2 million bond.
The Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia reported in August that a juvenile from its jurisdiction might be in New Hill, and Chatham County deputies found the juvenile at Scott's home, authorities said. Further investigation revealed that sexual contact had occurred between Scott and the juvenile, authorities said.
