New burger, rib joint opening in downtown Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. — A new restaurant is moving into the old Zinda space on Fayetteville Street.

Eschelon Experiences announced Tuesday that the new concept will be called Bare Bones. It is being billed as an "easy, go-to spot for burgers, ribs and beer." The venue will also have classic games such as pool and shuffleboard.

"Zinda worked well as an event space, but our vision for the space was one that would be vibrant and open for the community to enjoy as part of the lively downtown Raleigh experience,” Gaurav “G” Patel, founder and president of Eschelon Experiences, said via press release Tuesday. "Our hope is that Bare Bones will give downtown a fun and energetic place to eat, gather with groups of friends, and maybe watch the game."

Bare Bones' head chef will be Taion McElveen. He was previously head chef a Cameron Bar and Grill and The Oxford. McElveen is known for his pork obsession and southern influence, so the menu will reflect that. Menu items will include smoked pork, beef ribs, brisket and house-ground burgers seasoned with house-made rubs and sauces. The bar will have 24 beers on tap.

Zinda, which was also owned by Eschelon Experiences, closed March 19.
