NCSU student charged with peeping in campus bathrooms

In a notice sent late Monday through the campus WolfAlert system, police said they received two reports about a man who followed women into restrooms and looked over the bathroom stalls at them.

The first incident happened about 4:30 p.m. Monday in the 1911 Building. The second happened about 20 minutes later at Ricks Hall.

"That makes me feel really uncomfortable because that can happen to anybody," student Ashleigh Shook said Tuesday.

The women gave similar descriptions of the man, and campus security video captured an image of a man matching that description.

Police said Tuesday that media coverage of the case and the security image prompted tips that led them to arrest Korey Jamal Williams, 20, of 7921 Castlelake Court in Raleigh. Maj. David Kelly, spokesman for the N.C. State University Police, said one tipster even recognized Williams from high school.

"That means that our security is doing their job and following up on what they should and using it for the right purposes," student Kate Vancil said.

Police found Williams, a junior majoring in psychology, in his dorm room at about 8:30 a.m. He was taken to the police department and charged with two counts of peeping into a room occupied by another. He was being held in the Wake County jail under a $4,000 bond.

Kelly said the women were chosen at random.

If Williams posts bond, he was ordered to stay away from the two women and was barred from going into Ricks Hall or the 1911 Building without approval from university administrators.
